The world’s most prized spice, at its finest. Our A Grade 1+ Saffron is sourced directly from the sun-drenched fields of Iran — the birthplace of saffron and home to over 90% of the world’s finest harvest. Hand-picked at dawn, thread by thread, this is saffron as it was always meant to be: deeply aromatic, intensely golden, and utterly pure.

A1+ is the highest classification in Iranian saffron grading — reserved for threads with the longest, most vibrant red stigmas and the highest concentration of crocin (colour), safranal (aroma), and picrocrocin (flavour). One pinch transforms a dish. A few threads transform a cup.

Traditionally Cherished, Naturally Remarkable

Saffron has been treasured for thousands of years across Persian, Ayurvedic, and Mediterranean traditions. Traditionally used as a daily wellness ritual, it has long been steeped into warm drinks, tonics, and foods as a source of nourishment and vitality. Here is what makes it so enduring:

  • Rich in antioxidants — Saffron contains crocin, crocetin, safranal, and kaempferol — powerful antioxidants traditionally associated with protecting cells from oxidative stress.
  • Mood & emotional wellbeing — Traditionally used across Persian and Ayurvedic medicine to support a positive mood and sense of calm. Often referred to as “sunshine spice” for its uplifting qualities.
  • Digestive comfort — Long used in traditional medicine to support healthy digestion and ease feelings of bloating or discomfort.
  • Skin radiance — Traditionally prized in Persian beauty rituals for its brightening and nourishing properties when consumed regularly.
  • Restful sleep — Safranal, one of saffron’s key compounds, has traditionally been used to support relaxation and a more restful night’s sleep.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties — Traditionally used to support the body’s natural response to inflammation, particularly in Persian herbal medicine.

As with all botanicals, saffron is best enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle. These are traditional uses and not intended as medical claims.

How to Make Saffron with an Ice Cube (The Persian Method)

This traditional technique unlocks the full colour and aroma of saffron without heat damage:

  1. Place a small pinch of saffron threads (8–10 threads) into a mortar and pestle.
  2. Add one small ice cube directly onto the threads.
  3. As the ice melts slowly, gently grind the saffron with the pestle — the cold water releases the colour gradually without burning the delicate compounds.
  4. Once fully melted and ground to a deep golden liquid, add to warm water, milk, tea, rice, or your recipe of choice.
  5. Use immediately for maximum potency and colour.

Tip: This method produces a richer, more vibrant golden colour than dissolving in hot water alone.

Suggested Uses:

  • Saffron tea or golden milk
  • Persian rice (tahdig) and stews
  • Desserts, ice cream, and baked goods
  • Cocktails, lattes, and wellness tonics
